SLIP! SLOP! SLAP!

Wear A Hat and Sunscreen
Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, with 2 out of 3 Australians developing some form of skin cancer in their lifetime.
Because children are at school when ultraviolet radiation levels are at their highest, schools are ideally placed to help reduce the risk and incidence of skin cancer and the number of related deaths by encouraging all members of the school community to use effective skin protection measures.
As part of our ongoing concern in summer with the harmful effects of UV on the children, we have introduced new playground times. These are designed to decrease the amount of time that the children are exposed to high-risk UV while at school.
Our daily timetable of activities is as follows :
| 9:00 - 11:30 am | Classroom activities, outdoor activities, sport in terms 1 & 4 |
| 11:30 - 11:40 am | Lunchtime - eating lunch in classrooms |
| 11:40 - 12:30 pm | Lunch break outside with hats on, or sitting in the shade. |
| 12:30 - 1:30 pm | Classroom activities |
| 1:30 - 1:50 pm | Afternoon recess with hats on, or sitting in the shade |
| 1:50 - 3:00 pm | Classroom activities |
