The Lyons School Board determines the broad educational policy of the school. It assesses physical and staffing needs, oversees the school budget and develops the relationship between the school and the community. Board meetings are held once a month during term time.
The School Board is made up of three elected community representatives, two elected teacher representatives, the school principal and a departmental nominee. Board elections are held once a year to fill vacant positions which are advertised in The Message Stick.
The P&C Association provides an important link between the school and the community. In seeking to foster parental interest in and understanding of the school's educational program it aims to provide a forum for discussion on educational matters between the school and the community. It is also involved in fund-raising to provide additional programs and resources for the benefit of all students. From time to time The P&C organises social events and community get togethers in which all parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate.
The School is supported by:
Staff welcome the opportunity to meet parents. This occurs formally and informally through the fortnightly newsletter, The Message Stick, telephone, notes, letters, parent teacher evenings, interviews, open days and written reports.
The School Board determines the amount of voluntary contributions each year. These contributions are used to support the educational programs and activities through the purchase of additional resources.
